I’m Kelvin, and I believe youth voices are often disadvantaged in the current political system. The voting age leaves out many who are already legal adults, and with an aging population, policies can lean toward the priorities of the majority rather than young people. Combined with generational apathy stemming from a history of disenfranchised student activism, youth voices in Singapore can feel muted. I first joined the Workers’ Party in 2007, volunteering primarily in Hougang SMC, and I hope to change this by empowering youths to engage meaningfully with policy, not just as observers, but as active contributors to the conversation.

Outside of the Workers’ Party, I enjoy reading and writing, habits I developed during my former life as a journalist and editor. They help me make sense of the world and imagine what a better one could look like.
