Ms Eileen Chong was earlier appointed as the President of the WP Youth Wing, with elections held for the remaining YW Exco positions.
These young leaders represent the diversity, drive, and dedication of our youth members. Their election reflects the trust and confidence placed in them by their peers to advance the values and vision of the Workers’ Party.
In her inaugural address, Ms Eileen Chong, President, WP Youth Wing shared: “I am deeply honoured and grateful for the opportunity to serve as President of the Workers’ Party Youth Wing. I hope that our Youth Wing can play a meaningful role in ensuring more young Singaporeans have the chance to participate in nation building today, not just tomorrow. My vision is for the Youth Wing to be a space where young Singaporeans can talk openly about the issues that matter most to our generation, come together to serve our communities in fun and creative ways, and eventually, for some, to find the joy and courage to take another step forward to serve in other capacities.”
Reflecting on his journey, Mr Jamus Lim, Outgoing President, WP Youth Wing said: “There is a saying that ‘youth is wasted on the young,’ but nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to the Workers’ Party Youth Wing. Their energy, optimism, and drive are channelled purposefully towards the Party’s larger goal of realising the vision of a more balanced political landscape in Singapore. My time as President was always meant to be a temporary stewardship. It is with great pride that I pass the baton to Eileen Chong, who brings fresh vision and heart. I have full confidence that she and her team will help shape the future of the party and our nation.”
WP Secretary General Mr Pritam Singh also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the YW Exco: “The Workers’ Party has always believed in the importance of giving our youth a platform to be heard. Their voices matter not only because they represent the future, but because they have a stake in the present. The future of the Workers’ Party is bright because of the passion and dedication of our youth. Your participation and leadership are vital in ensuring that our party remains relevant and responsive to the needs of all Singaporeans. I look forward to seeing you shape the future of the Workers’ Party and our nation. My heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected executive committee of the Workers’ Party Youth Wing.”
As we move forward, we reaffirm our belief that youth voices are essential in shaping the future of Singapore society. We encourage all young Singaporeans to join us in building the Singapore they wish to see.
We wish the new Youth Wing Executive Committee every success in their term and look forward to their contributions, as they help chart the path ahead for the Workers’ Party and for Singapore.
