Mr Low Thia Khiang is a member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Workers' Party. He previously served as the Secretary-General of the party and was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hougang SMC and Aljunied GRC from 1991 to 2011 and 2011 to 2020 respectively.

Biography

Mr Low Thia Khiang is a member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Workers' Party. He previously served as the Secretary-General of the party and was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hougang SMC and Aljunied GRC from 1991 to 2011 and 2011 to 2020 respectively,  representing his constituents with dedication and commitment. His leadership was pivotal in steering the party’s vision and strategy, contributing significantly to its growth and its progress towards establishing a First World Parliament.

He sees Singapore as a leading world financial centre, an international transportation and logistics hub, and a geopolitical mediation centre in Asia. His vision for the Workers' Party is for it to become a rational, responsible, and respected force in Singapore’s democracy, contributing to political stability and safeguarding the rights and interests of Singaporeans through an institutionalised system of checks and balances.

Professionally, Mr Low has a background as a teacher and businessman, bringing a wealth of experience from both fields to his political work. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Nanyang University, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the National University of Singapore, and a Diploma in Education from the Institute of Education.

Family plays a central role in his life. He is married, with three children and four grandchildren. Outside of his professional and political life, he enjoys reading and engaging in political discourse.

His lifelong commitment to the growth of the Workers' Party and his vision for Singapore’s future is a testament to his dedication and passion for the nation.
