In mature HDB estates where there are few multi-storey car parks, families may be asked to park their car some distance away from their block, particularly their second car. In other car park clusters, even the first car may need to be parked some blocks away.
Residents are concerned not just because of the inconvenience. It poses difficulties to the less mobile; ladies have also expressed to me safety concerns.
It was reported in December that MND is studying a mechanised parking solution for implementation in mature HDB estates. Since then, some parking experts and others have thrown up some other possible strategies. Could Ministry share more information about what it is looking into to ease the car park shortages for residents in mature HDB estates?
