“I don’t want to see old people collecting dishes.”

What kind of Singapore do you want to give to your children when they grow up?

I don’t want to see old people collecting dishes. I don’t want to see them worrying everyday over their retirement. I don’t want to see bloggers being sued by the PM. I want my children to live in an inclusive Singapore, where our people are not afraid to hold a different view or perspective from the government or the ruling party.

You have been with the Workers’ Party for awhile now. How would you describe your personal experiences?

Tough. No money, no resources, and so many obstacles. It’s tough. But you see, I am the kind of person who like challenges. The tougher it gets, the better it is for me. It actually drives me to do more for the people around me. So, it’s just like in my office. If there are any difficult people, give them to me. I will handle them.
